Choquequirao Trek 5 Days

The Choquequirao Wasi Camp invites you to visit one of the most remote places of the Inca empire. Be part of this experience and overcome your challenges.

In this program we set  the visit to Choquequirao the 3th day.

All food and accommodation services are provided by the local population, helping to reactivate their economy.

The Choquequirao Wasi family is a camp on the route to Choquequirao led by an official accredited tour guide. At the same time we offer organized tours to visit this archaeological center. 100% local from the district of San Pedro de Cachora, which is the busiest and safest entrance to Choquequirao.

The 5d 4n program is the same as the 4d 3n program with the difference that we spend the last night in our mountain cabins with a view of the Apurimac Canyon, one of the highest in the world, and with a view of the Padreyoc mountain, which is part of the mountain range. central Vilcabamba.

In the following description of our program:

Itinerary

DAY 1Cusco - Capuliyoc - Chikiska

This day the meeting point in the city of Cusco in group service is in the regocijo square that is next to the main square between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. if is a private service  the pick up is in the hotel .

Our transport will take us for about 3 hours and a half to the SAYWITE archaeological park where there is a stone carved by the Incas where they designed many miniature architectures as a model. Besides there are more ceremonial centers.

If you leave Abancay, the meeting point is coordinated internally at approximately 9 am to then go up to the Saywite stone and be able to visit that place.

After that we will continue in the car for 1 more hour to Cachora place Capuliyoc where we can enjoy our lunch with a view of the Apurimac Canyon and the snowy Padreyoc. Then we will begin our adventure, we start to descend for about 3 hours approx. Passing through the viewpoints of Cocamasana to Chikiska, where we will have our dinner and spend the night there in a rural lodging that has rooms with double or matrimonial beds.

DAY 2Chikiska - Marampata

We  start the day early, after breakfast we will continue descending for 1 hour to the Apurímac River, a place called Playa Rosalina, crossing the river we start to climb to Santa Rosa for an hour and a half to 2 hours approx. This part the physical effort is strong and we try to climb when is still shadow without the sun.

After a short break we will continue climbing for another  3  hours and a half  aprox. to the town of Marampata, where we  have lunch and in the afternoon free time  to rest. Marampata is a nice place town to see the sun set if we are luky.

After climbing 1500 masl we rest the rest of the day, in the same place is our dinner and hostal

DAY 3Marampata - Choquequirao - Santa Rosa baja

This day is one of the most important since we will visit the archaeological park of Choquequirao.
Very early after breakfast we will walk for approximately 2 hours (4km) to Choquequirao, we will arrive at the place between 7 to 8 am approximately. We will visit all the main places since the place is considered biger  than Machupicchu.
Lunch will be brought by our muleteer, at noon we will have a box lunch. We will continue with the visit until approximately 2 pm and then return to Marampata and descend to the Santa Rosa Camp, dinner and lodging.

DAY 4Santa Rosa - Chikiska - Capuliyoc

We start the day early after a snack we begin to descend for approximately 1 hour and a half to the Apurimac River, 1 hour up to Chikiska where we will have a short break for breakfast and then continue the climb for 3 and a half to 4 hours until Capuliyoc, arriving at the place for our Lunch, rest in the afternoon.
This day we started early to avoid the sun rising from the Apurimac River since this part receives the sun’s rays very early and walking under it is very exhausting.

Arriving at the camp we  have a small campfire and we  spend our last night in the mountain cabins with a view of the Apurímac canyon and the Padreyoc snow- capped mountain, a magical night.

This day sounds strong due to the demand of the walk. In the first two days of this trip the walk is not so demanding, there you can check your physical resistance, If you think it is too hard, the day before you can take the option of renting a horse to ride the entire climb, the price and the coordination can be done with the guide in charge of the group.

This day is a relaxing day . We  wake up a little later and after breakfast we will have an  special place to perform an offering ceremony to the earth
